CONGOLESE LYRICS ARCHIVE...

Welcome to my new blog Congo Kin Lyrics. My aim here is simple; to create an archive of lyrics and translations to Congolese songs so that more people can enjoy the incredible meanings they have to offer. Story telling is an intrinsic part of Congolese music. Although the instrumentation in Congolese music has always been top notch, allowing people from all over the world to enjoy it, one thing I find is nothing beats knowing what your favorite song means and admiring the poetic nature of your favorite singers and song writers.

Congolese Rumba is sung mainly in Lingala. Some artists also mix in other local languages such as Kikongo and Tshiluba. Using these languages, full of poetry and wonder, Congolese artists create stories of love lost and gained, life and just plain old fun. I want to bring all of this to life for whoever is interested and happens to stumble upon this site.

I implore all Lingala speakers who come across this site to make corrections and add on lyrics. I want to make this the biggest and best archive for Congolese Lyrics on the internet. Together as fans of Congolese Rumba, Soukous, Ndombolo, etc we can make that happen!!

Peace and Blessings, Ms. Bazu

  1. I've just found your blog and I'm very excited about it, because I`m from colombian caribbean cost, in southamerica, and I'm trying to get some of the african band we enjoyed when we were child and younger. I'm preparing a book about the time these songs showed up in the Caribbean of America, so your help will be priceless. Conngratulations for your blog and for being part for a beautiful culture. Give some more information to contact you later, just in case you want to be part of this proyect. In our country, we have little information about african songs from 70's and 80's. Thank you a lot. See you.
